Image Watermark Adder
Image Watermark Adder stamps a text or logo watermark onto your photos right in the browser — one image or a whole batch. Drag the watermark anywhere on the live preview, or tile it diagonally across the frame, then download. Your files never leave your device, and unlike other free watermark tools, this one never adds its own logo to your images.

How does Image Watermark Adder work?
A watermark is just another layer of pixels drawn over the picture — the same compositing every image editor does, except here the whole pipeline runs inside your browser tab. The image is decoded to a bitmap, the watermark is drawn on a canvas at the exact relative position and size you chose, and the result is re-encoded to PNG or JPEG for download.
Why positions and sizes are relative
The preview you drag the watermark around on is a small copy of your photo, but the download is the full-resolution original. Every setting — font size, logo scale, position — is stored as a fraction of the image width, not as pixels, so what you place on the preview lands in precisely the same spot on the export. A 5% font on a 400-pixel preview is a 5% font on a 4000-pixel photo.
How the tile pattern works
Tile mode rotates the drawing context by a fixed −30° and stamps the text on a grid spaced a few line-heights apart, covering the frame corner to corner. The angle is fixed rather than adjustable on purpose: a diagonal repeat is what reads as a watermark, and a fixed angle keeps the spacing even across any aspect ratio. It is the pattern stock-photo sites use, minus their branding.
Opacity and legibility
A watermark has two jobs that fight each other: be visible enough to deter theft, subtle enough not to ruin the photo. Around 60–70% opacity in white or black is the usual compromise — readable on most backgrounds without shouting. For busy backgrounds, a semi-transparent dark text with no rotation in a corner survives better than a faint centered one.
Where the work happens
In this tab. Decoding uses createImageBitmap with EXIF orientation applied, so a portrait photo from your phone comes out the right way up, and encoding uses the browser's own canvas.toBlob. Nothing is uploaded — which is also why the free tier has no reason to stamp anything on your images. Server-side watermark tools add their logo to the free output because the processing happens on their machines and the branding is the price; here there is no server, so there is no price.

What options and edge cases does Image Watermark Adder support?
| Parameter | Type | Default | Behaviour & edge cases |
|---|---|---|---|
| Text | mode | © Your Name | A single line of text drawn once. Drag it anywhere on the preview, or pick one of the nine grid positions. |
| Tiled text | mode | — | Repeats the text diagonally across the whole image at −30°. Harder to crop out than a corner mark. |
| Logo | mode | — | Your own PNG drawn over the photo. Use a file with transparency — a JPG logo stamps a white box. |
| Font size | % of width | 5% | Relative to the image width, so the preview and the full-resolution download match exactly. |
| Opacity | % | 65% | 60–70% is the usual compromise between deterrent and distraction. Logos often sit higher, around 85%. |
| Rotation | degrees | 0° | Single text watermarks only, −45° to +45°. Tile mode uses a fixed −30° diagonal. |
| Position | 9-grid / drag | bottom-right | Nine presets, or drag the watermark anywhere on the preview — touch works too. Corners survive cropping best. |
| Export format | PNG / JPG | PNG | PNG keeps transparency and edges crisp; JPG is smaller for photos. JPG quality is adjustable. |
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is decoded, watermarked and re-encoded entirely in your browser tab using the canvas API. Your files never leave your device — you can confirm it in DevTools: the Network panel stays empty while you work.
Does the free version add your logo to my images?
No — that is the point. Many free watermark tools stamp their own branding on your photos unless you pay. Because everything here runs on your machine rather than a server, there is nothing to upsell and nothing gets added. Your images, your branding only.
Can I watermark many photos at once?
Yes. Drop a whole batch, tune the watermark once on the live preview, and download — each image is watermarked with the same settings and saved as an individual file named like product-photo-watermarked.png.
Text or logo — which watermarks better?
A logo is harder to remove and reads as branding; text is faster and works when you have no logo file. For text, use a PNG-like crisp export and keep it short — a long sentence across the middle ruins the photo it is meant to protect. Tiled text is the strongest deterrent of the three because cropping it out means cropping the photo itself.
Why does my logo show a white box around it?
The logo file has no transparency — most likely a JPG, or a PNG exported without an alpha channel. Re-export the logo as PNG with a transparent background and the box disappears. Anything opaque in the logo file is drawn exactly as it is.
Will watermarking remove my photo's metadata?
Yes, as a side effect of re-encoding: EXIF data such as camera model and GPS coordinates is not carried over to the downloaded file. If you need the metadata preserved, keep a copy of the original.
